Screening against the effects of electromagnetic radiation is important, especially as the electromagnetic environment becomes more polluted and product operating speeds increase.
The manufacture of a screened enclosure can be expensive and it is desirable to be able to predict the effectiveness of the screen during the design phase of a product.
We want to develop a method of determining the effectiveness of a metal screen against electromagnetic radiation, using field plotting software.
Fig 1 shows the basic concepts of an electromagnetic radiation screen.

The incident em wave is attenuated by the screen and only a small fraction of the wave, the transmitted wave, passes through the screen.
