Programme Handbooks

Short descriptions

For most purposes the short descriptions of each programme will be sufficient:

Syllabuses are included in the module specifications which are linked in the right column under courses.

Handbooks

Coupled with the module specifications, the programme handbooks are the official definition of each programme; they follow a template defined by the Academic Quality and Standards Unit at the University of Bolton and include (as section 10) the programme specification.

Syllabuses are included in the module specifications which are linked in the right column under courses.

Caution

The first two handbooks linked above have yet to be updated to describe the changes in policy regarding late submission of assignments. From November 2005 the time allowed for receiving work late is one week. (It was previously two weeks). The penalty for late submission is a deduction of 20% of the marks. (It was previously a deduction of one grade). A letter from an employer stating that required travel away from base has significantly affected the time available for study is deemed acceptable as mitigating circumstances. (This only applies to the postgraduate electronics programmes studied wholly by distance learning).

Handbooks for programmes that are no longer recruiting

A word of caution: These handbooks describe the programmes at the time they were validated (May 2003) and will not be updated even though changes will have been approved by the Programmes Committee.
