Three examples in the text so far studied which describe how additives or fillers are used to turn a polymer into a ‘useable plastic material’ are:
Look out for a fourth major example, in the polymer applications within electronics, which is the use of conductive fillers to produce polymers which conduct electricity.
Fillers are also used as colorants and to enhance thermal conductivity and other additives make PCB manufacturing materials light-sensitive.
