b) Explain briefly the cause of ESD.
Static electricity can build up on some objects, giving rise to
a high voltage. If the object then approaches another object closely,
then an electrostatic discharge between the objects can occur.
A sensitive IC or assembly can easily become the source or victim of an ESD event – in either case it can be easily damaged.
