Based on the web site claims, the advantages of CAC are:
Improved yields, especially for fine track and gap, because the foil surfaces are kept free from foreign material and airborne particulate contaminates.
Less material handling, because lay-up of a multilayer book no longer involves carefully placing individual foils and separators over pins. For a ten-layer book, the number of components to be handled reduces from 31 to 11.
Reduced operator labour. CAC is delivered pre-sealed from the factory, so operator wiping of critical surfaces is no longer necessary.
Eases use of thin foils, reverse treated and double treated foils. Because the foil is attached to a rigid separator, CAC allows the use of foils as thin as 9 µm (¼ oz).
Elimination of foil wrinkles. Wrinkles are a major source of foil pinholes, caused both by handling when mounting thin foils direct onto lamination fixture pins and by CTE mismatch between foil and steel separators.
Improved thermal conductivity. The use of CAC can reduce inherent temperature differences in a lamination book due to its improved thermal conductivity as compared to steel separators.
