Brief description
The aim of the project is to develop a (DIN rail mounted) 4 channel counting datalogger, monitoring/counting 4 seperate digital inputs. The product can be set to record the count values at a defined time interval set by the user. The unit can display the count values via a small display interface or the infomation can be downloaded to a USB FLASH memory stick. Research, design and develop suitable inputs, USB datalogging and user (display and keypad) interfaces for required light industrial EMC enviroment. Research, design and develop a suitable microcontroller and USB interface. Programming of the microcontroller will be required. Design and develop the product to a beta model stage. Include PCB, enclosure and user inerface design. Demonstrate good signal integrity/EMC design. Explore expandable/additional interfaces of the design to increase potential uses of the product. Project will consist of a mixture of research, hardware and software design and development. The product may be used in manufactuing where multiple prodution lines can be monitored together to analysis rate of production and productivity over a time period. The infomation may then be downloaded and kept for either further analysis or for production records. The product could also be used on the same production line to monitor different stages of manufacture. This could be used to monitor the input/output quantities of product. It could also be used to highlight any quality issues if a certain stage of production is seen to have a higher than expected failure rate.
