Proposal Date: 17/11/2005
Brief description
A recently completed system has been designed using over 100 DIL devices. The proposal is to investigate methods of modifying the circuit/system design to facilitate the use of an FPGA to replace the vast majority of the existing components. Following research to identify suitable FPGA candidates, the intention is to produce a working prototype. If possible this would utilise development equipment already available at Bolton.
Project outcomes
ASIC to be fabricated No
Hardware to be produced Yes
Software to be produced Yes
Requirements
Dedicated hardware that will be essential for the project. FPGA development kit. It may be possible to utilise existing equipment (Altera).
Specialist software that will be essential for the project. CAD for VHDL and/or schematic capture, simulation and development equipment driving.
